The aim is to stimulate public discussion through an intensive, informed discussion of current issues around civil society in a public dialogue where science meets practice. The symposia are intended to offer not only clarification and orientation but also concrete solutions and thus stimulate debate both in the scientific world and in the public arena.
In recent years a particular focus of the symposia has been current problems concerning the reform of tertiary education in Germany. Working closely with the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation, the Schleyer Foundation has attracted top flight contributors in the relevant fields and built up this programme into a sort of Higher Education Fair. Our partner universities to date are:
the Technical University of Munich, the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Free University of Berlin.
